WOW....I haven't posted in almost a month. A friend of mine sent me this and I just had to share it. It's a pretty moving video....and all I can say is WOW - Reality Check!!
So....I haven't posted in a very long time....but today...I just had to write this down so I don't "think" about it all day long.
I have been walking 3 days a week with 3 other women (we do curves on the opposite 3 days and take Sundays off). Today when we went though...the other three ladies just kind of strolled. One of them is struggling with her feet (she just got new sneakers so hopefully that will get better) so I understand her slowing down...but the other two just talked and talked the entire time. I walked about 2 feet in front of the three of them, hoping to get them to walk a little faster but it didn't work. We only do a 4 laps around the park (3 laps is one mile) so we don't walk for long....but for some reason, this morning, I don't think I got the workout that I thought I should have gotten.
I think I am going to just walk on ahead of them from now on if they slow down like that. I didn't work out on Sunday or Monday this week so I already feel like I am a little bit behind in my exercise and I really don't want to loose my enthusiasm so the slowness today just added to all of it.
Maybe I am just being overly sensitive - have a visit from "martha" for the first time in 5 months.....grrrr!!!

The Value of Drinking
"Sometimes
when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel shame. Then I look into
the glass and think
about the workers in the vineyards and all of their
hopes
and dreams .
If I
didn't drink this wine, they might be out
of work and their dreams would be
shattered.
Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and
let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my
liver."

And
saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One
afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his
buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not.
Spring is in the air....oOoOoOo.....it feels sooooooo good. I was driving to work this morning and actually looked at the scenery while I was driving. I can honestly say....I watched the trees actually budding before my eyes. It is sooo nice to see the buds on the trees and the daffodils and tulips and crocus' and the trees flowering...it is just totally the best time of the year. The warm weather is especially nice....I must say I like the warm weather (yes, even the hot weather) more than I do winter. I hate being cold and having to bundle up and have the heat on (I'm super cheap like that).
I have been walking 3 days a week - a little more than a mile each time and going to Curves 3 days a week...for almost a month now. I'm not really noticing any difference in my weight or the way my cloths fit but I can honestly say that I feel better getting up really early and doing my thing at 5:45 in the morning .... it really gets my day going. However, I have to say....going from 5:45 am to 11:00 pm between working out and the 2 jobs....it is going to kill me. I soooo hope I don't have to work two jobs forever. I really would like to be able to work at just one job....ugh!!! at least another year for the two jobs thing though. Oh well....what can you do. For now though...I'm going to bed.
Spring is in the AIR!!!!
OMG....I couldn't believe it when I heard this. What is wrong with these kids....good grief. Third grade....that just blows me away.....and girls too boot....girls were involved in this. They must have some serious anger issues. WTF???
By far...the coolest, most ingenious website I have ever seen!!!
HEMA
is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926 in
Amsterdam . Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands . HEMA also has
stores in Belgium, Luxemburg, and Germany . In June of this year, HEMA was sold
to British investment company Lion Capital.
Take a look at HEMA's
product page. You can't order anything and it's in Dutch but just
wait a few seconds and watch what happens.
This
company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer.
I haven't posted in a while...been really busy working and now I have added working out to my already busy schedule. I joined Curves the other day....it is so reasonably priced AND my employer reimburses me $20.00 a month of the monthly $34.00 fee...so that is sooo kewl. Plus, I like being able to work out with just woman and not have anyone judge me for what I look like. Anyways...I started yesterday (3/27), at 5:45 am (they don't open till 6:00 but the lady comes in early because she knows that people want to start early), was there for about 1/2 hour, went home and showered and got ready for work, got my son moving for school, went to work (8-4), went home and changed my shirt and went to work at my second job (5-11). I was actually home and in bed by midnight...w00t w00t.
Only thing is...I got up this morning and am doing it all over again - only I am also adding in that I have to drive in this stupid obnoxious snow...ugh!!!! The roads were horrible and it took me over an hour to get to work - it usually takes me about 30-35 minutes.
Anyways....I will working on getting to Curves on M, W, F till I get my muscles so that they don't hurt (they don't really hurt that much though) and then I will work my way up to 4 days a week and then maybe 5 days a week. I soooo want to be able to wear a bathing suit this summer and shorts and shirts that aren't purchased from the Ureka Tent & Awning shop...hahahaha.
Now though...I gotta work....so later!!
Spread the word!!!!!
Dear WWF Activist, The momentum is building for Earth Hour—8 to 9 pm, March 29, 2008—the global movement to shut off the lights for one hour to make a bold statement about climate change. More and more individuals, businesses, and even cities are planning to participate. Together, we’ll deliver a powerful message to the citizens and leaders of the world about the need for action on climate change. Earth Hour is an opportunity for each one of us to take action, influence others and start a wave of change that alters the course of climate change. But turning off your lights is just the beginning. What can one person do in the face of a global challenge? Here are some easy tips to help you make a big impact:Make it Happen It’s easy and free to be part of the Earth Hour movement. * Be sure to be counted. Sign up for Earth Hour and commit to turning off your lights on March 29 from 8 to 9 pm local time. * Urge your friends, family, colleagues and contacts to show their support. It’s easy to engage and inspire. Use or modify our sample Tell A Friend e-mail. * Blog about Earth Hour. Add an official Earth Hour web banner to your blog, website, or online page. Or start a conversation about climate change when you wear Earth Hour stickers. * Spread the word. Earth Hour could be just the excuse you’ve been waiting for to knock on doors on your street or in your building. Ask them to go dark. Create your own event, such as a neighborhood Earth Hour celebration. Reach Out, Speak Out, Go Out Shutting off non-essential lights for WWF’s Earth Hour on March 29 will give you some time to think about how you can be smarter about the Earth’s resources. * You don’t have to sit alone in the dark. Talking about protecting the planet for future generations can make for a very pleasant evening. Couple your conversation with some organic chocolate (dark, of course!) and make Earth Hour a night to remember. * Earth Hour is on a Saturday night. If the weather’s good, try a picnic under the stars. Ask your favorite restaurant or bar to dim their lights and participate in Earth Hour. And if you’ll be at work, take a look at our tips for businesses and restaurants. * Plan a get-dark party for Earth Hour. The younger crowd can host a slumber party complete with scary stories, hold an acoustical jam session or bring friends together to do some dancing in the dark. Don’t worry about decorations—it will be dark! * Check in with a local astronomy club about star gazing events. The night sky provides its own light show and here’s your chance to take a break and soak up the view. * You can still text in the dark. Make a list of all the ways you are going to reduce your energy consumption: unplug unused appliances; change to compact fluorescent bulbs; properly inflate tires; adjust your thermostat. Text your list to others and challenge them to make their own lists. Check other lists for ideas you may have forgotten. The Earth Hour idea has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world and I hope that it has captured yours. I look forward to participating in Earth Hour at the same time as thousands of dedicated WWF supporters like you. Thank you for being a part of this amazing event.Sincerely, Richard Moss Managing Director and Vice President Climate Change World Wildlife Fund |

I do not need to say anything with this one....just watch.... ....it is hysterical and so .... on the money!!!
I got together with 3 of my 4 sisters this weekend....we planned a pajama party - for adults.....it was sooooo much fun. We all gathered at my sister-in-laws work on Saturday afternoon and her boss let her leave as soon as we all got there. We all went to the grocery store together and shopped for food stuff and beverages...which was fun. Then we were on our way to my sister-in-law and brothers house. We were only there for about 15 minutes before we were all in our pj's - after we got the tour of their house...since we have never been there...and putting away the groceries. After the pj's were on and we were in full swing of chatting and reminiscing of our younger years and talking about our lives now...we started cooking the food stuff that we had bought at the store. We have sooo much food - we decided that we were not going to order dinner because we had so much food. Then we watched movies (Talledaga Nights, Dane Cook, Dirty Dancing and Wild Hogs). Went to bed at 1:00 am - but it was really 2:00 am because today was daylight savings time. It was sooo much fun just visiting and laughing and watching movies - even had a few drinks.
Then we got up this morning - I actually slept till around 7:30 (which still was only about 5 hours of sleep by the time I got to bed and stopped talking after going to bed) and my brother cooked us breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon & sausage). OMG....we had soo much fun.
The next time, we will do it at my sisters house - which is close to NYC and take a train into the city on Saturday to either see a show or just wander the streets and site see. We will probably even include the brothers and spouses...just because that would be a blast too. I LOVE doing this kind of thing. Thanks sisters for such an awesome night!!!! I love you all very much.
