Or a crazy waste of taxpayer money?!? A week or two ago, the guys were over for gaming, and we all heard a ton of sirens... It sounded like half of the town must be going up in flames... Luckily, Clark and I have been through this before and knew not to be worried... It is only because one of the sports teams won a major game... Last night, when I was about to put Boogie to bed, it happened again... Boogie looked so sad... He said, "I'm tired, and the sirens are too loud... It's too scary, so I don't want to be alone in my room." To show him that it was nothing scary, I brought him downstairs and we waited for the crazy parade to weave its way down our street... Of course, this would be the one time that they skip our street! We did hear them on the next street over, though, and I took a "video" (though it's so dark that it's pretty much only a sound recording)...
Yeah... I definitely feel like I live in Texas sometimes... For goodness sake, why do they have to go through the entire town from about 8pm to 9:30pm with sirens, horns, and cheering people?!? It's not that I am not proud of our sports teams or anything, but I think that it is a crazy waste to spend the extra money for the bus driver and the gas for both the school bus and the fire trucks (our neighbor tole me they had FIVE of them out last night)... Geesh... Later days...
I try not to be "that parent," but it's getting a little tough lately... Boogie is just so darn smart! Tonight, he was showing Clark how he can pick up random letters (from his alphabet puzzle), identify the letter, and give an example of a word that starts with that letter -- all before placing that letter in the correct part of the puzzle... Sure, lots of the examples of words he gave came from the pictures that were under the letters on the puzzle board, but I still think that's rather impressive for a 3-year-old... Working in daycare and as a substitute teacher for a local district, I have heard stories about kids who "failed" their kindergarten entrance exams for not knowing a sufficient percentage of their letters when they were presented out of order or for not being coordinated enough to play catch... I'm not positive, but I'm guessing Boogie will have little/no problem with that part, especially! I suppose he could always get shy with those people there watching him, but I am not exactly worried about it... I mean, the kid hits the ball more often than he misses, let alone being able to just play catch... And, sure he has 2 more years to work on all of these skills -- but he is already a freakin' genius! Teeheehee... I know... "Humble" mama is showing her true colors... Whatever... I can't help it that my kid is so awesome! Later days...
Boogie sure does love watching his "uggle" play "ba-goss"... I must say that I like watching his lacross games much more than his football games, but I had an awesome book that I was more interested in reading tonight... I brought along The Invention of Hugo Cabret and planned on reading during the entire scrimmage... The problem was that a storm cloud came rushing in and I was afraid of ruining the [library] book... We only got a few drops on our heads, but I'm still happy with my decision to run the book back to my car... Knowing my luck, I would have ended up completely soaking the book if I hadn't, you know?!? But, yeah... Going out to see my brother-in-law's games and stuff would be so much cooler if we didn't have to rush back home for Boogie's early bedtime... Oh well... Boogie will grow up soon enough, and then we will be out running around for his games and such... The days are so long, but the years add up fast... Later days...
